John
Illman won two major UK awards as a Guardian journalist. His
books include The Body Machine with Professor Christaan Barnard.
A visiting university lecturer in medical journalism, John has just
completed five years as chair of the Medical Journalists Association.
He also works as a facilitator, a lecturer in the commercial and
voluntary sector, and has just launched a video production company.

Barbara
Myers is one of Britain's leading medical/health broadcasters
and has won two major Sony awards in a career encompassing radio
and TV. The presenter of BBC Radio Four's interactive Check-Up programme,
Barbara is a non-executive board member of the Brighton and Hove
Primary Care Trust.

Geoff
Watts, presenter of BBC Radio Four's highly acclaimed Medicine
Now and, currently, Leading Edge, has a big clutch of writing
and broadcasting awards. His books include Pleasing The Patient.
He is a member of The Human Genetics Commission.

Rita
Carter worked as a TV presenter on Thames News in the UK for
six years and as a radio reporter and presenter before becoming
a specialist medical writer in newspapers, books and magazines.
Her first book, Mapping The Mind, was shortlisted for the Rhône-Poulenc
science prize. Her latest book, Consciousness, was published in
the summer of 2002.

Christine
Webber took the top prize in the UK Norwich Union Healthcare
Awards for online medical journalism in 2001. A former classical
singer turned actress, Christine spent 12 years as a presenter for
Anglia TV. Now, in addition to writing and appearing on TV, Christine
also works as a psychotherapist.

Ruth
Linton has worked as a London based BBC TV and radio reporter
and presenter. Formerly Deputy Editor of Science and Medicine for
the BBC World Service and chief producer of BBC Science Radio, she
has contributed to many journals, including The Economist and New
Scientist. She is also a tutor in writing skills at Birkbeck College,
University of London.

Vivien
Goldsmith is an ex news editor of General Practitioner who
has recently been working for The Commission for Health Improvement.
Her career includes spells in PR and as Personal Finance Editor
on The London Times and Features Editor of Sunday Business. She
is now preparing an internal report for The Department of the
Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

David
Delvin is the author of 27 books and an accomplished medical
journalist, in both the professional and lay press. A former member
of the General Medical Council, he has hundreds of TV appearances
to his credit. Formerly consultant editor on General Practitioner
and resident medical expert on BBC's Medical Express and Inside
Medicine, David is the proud recipient of the American Medical Writers
Association "Best Book" award.
